Cabbage Roses ~ Cottage Garden Charm

My cottage garden;
 Where I will collect bouquets of cabbage roses for my table.

My cottage garden;
Where I will take my little granddaughter, Evie, to touch and smell the fragrant rose blossoms, some that will even bear her name.

Today, I took the first step in realizing this dream.  Yes, my climbing beauties are on their way home!
So, after the last frost of the season,  I will break the ground and plant a dream or two...
The first cabbage rose to be planted in my cottage garden will be "Evelyn".

A Cottage gardeners dream, this David Austin English variety is named for the rose perfumes made
by Crabtree & Evelyn.
She promises to produce large 5 inch flowers with cupped shaped petals(70+).
Each petal curving to form a bit of a rosette shape with romantic hues ranging from light peach to faded yellow, colors that often vary with the seasons.

David Austin Roses are old garden roses artfully crossed with modern varieties to produce all the charm of the old English garden varieties, yet hardy and disease resistant enough making them a viable option for creating a cottage garden for todays busy gardener.
